Plot[]

Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, Trevante awakens buried beneath the dirt. He emerges from the sand in search of his unit, who are nowhere to be found. To make matters worse, he has sustained a deep shoulder wound and is bleeding profusely. Without any means of contact, he proceeds to walk aimlessly through the desert. Eventually, Trevante collapses from exhaustion and dehydration. As the sun beats down on him, Trevante begins to hallucinate, and just for a moment, he sees his wife in the distance. Fortunately, before he can succumb to his wounds and environmental threats, he is rescued by an Afghan who doesn’t speak English.

Long Island, New York, with Aneesha at the wheel, the Maliks are headed out of the city and witness as all of New York goes dark. After a run-in at the gas station with a couple of guys, Aneesha, Manny, Luke, and Sarah steal a car in the parking lot from another family and spend the night in a motel room, where Aneesha and Manny stray even further from one another.

London, England, the kids mostly recover from the crash, save for a few bumps and bruises. However, Mr. Edwards isn’t as fortunate and has sustained fatal injuries, preventing him from moving. Although, with the skills she’s learned from her mother, who is a nurse, Jamila manages to at least make a tourniquet around Mr. Edward’s arm. Caspar tries to help, but Monty and Jerome pull him out of the bus and blame him for the crash, as Mr. Edward was distracted with Caspar’s seizure. Later that evening, as the others set up camp around and inside the bus, Caspar starts a fire, and Monty tricks him into revealing secrets about his home life, which he uses to gain Caspar’s vote and become leader of the group.

Tokyo, Japan, Mitsuki continues to struggle with Hinata’s death, but she returns to work as if nothing has changed, though it has, and an independent commission from the government is taking over to determine just how the shuttle ruptured. However, Mitsuki fears they will only make matters worse and steals Hashimoto’s badge to break into the comms room with Kaito in tow. They watch the final moments of the shuttle before it ruptured and discover that not only did something hit the shuttle, but when Mitsuki enhances the audio, she hears the word “Wajo.”
