Luke Malik is a character featured in the Apple TV+ series, Invasion.

Aneesha and Ahmed’s mischievous, good-natured and intelligent son. When an unknown attack hits their city, Luke and his family must stick together to survive, especially as it affects each member of the Malik family differently. But his parents’ disintegrating relationship raises tensions along the way.

History[]

Explosion at home[]

Luke and Sarah are awakened from their sleep by their mother, who takes them to school, where all the children, save for Luke, suffer a nosebleed, resulting in them being released early to their parents. When Aneesha finally arrives, she takes them to the doctors, who confirms that they are fine. That night, Luke and Sarah are scared awake after an explosive shakes the neighborhood.[1]

Luke and Sarah are taken into the basement, where they wait with their mother as their father assess the damage outside. However, he comes rushing back in after Luke begins screaming in pain, exclaiming that something is in his ear saying "Wajo," but Aneesha is unable to discover the source of his pain. Following a second explosion, the Maliks pack their belongings and prepare to leave the city.[2]

Luke and Sarah are in the back of the car as their mother recklessly drives them out of the city. They pull into a gas station to charge the car and gather supplies but eventually end up in another family's stolen car, which Aneesha drives to a nearby motel, where they stay for the night.[3]

Running away[]

With their parents otherwise occupied, Luke and Sarah begin to question their marriage and if they intend to get a divorce, but Luke assures his younger sister that they aren't. Sarah then notices a strange alien object in Luke's bag, which he explains that he found and tells her to never touch it again. Given his parents' constant fighting, Luke runs off into the woods, where he meets the Mitchells.[4]

Attacked by aliens[]

Luke and Sarah hide in the attic with their father and the Mitchells after the house is attacked by aliens. Once their mother returns, they plan their escape. Aneesha and Sarah make it downstairs first and hide in a closet. Ahmed and Luke follow their lead and head down the steps. Manny attempts to unblock the door while Luke reunites with his mother and sister before escaping to the car.[5]

After witnessing his mother kill an alien with the object from his bag, she asks Luke where he got it from. However, before he can respond, they are forced to pull over to the side of the road, where Aneesha performs an emergency procedure in order to save Ahmed’s life. They then find refuge at a college after spending the night in a retro diner.[6]

Luke makes a new friend named Jack, who shows him where they keep the bodies. In the lab, the alien object Luke found appears to interact with one of the corpses.[7]

Hiding in the woods[]

When the government learns that they can finally defeat the aliens with the object Luke found, he and his family are escorted by the U.S. military to the Pentagon. However, they never make it, as their convoy is attacked, forcing them to hide in the woods, where they separate from Ahmed, who provides a distraction for them to escape.[8]

End of the invasion?[]

Luke mourns his father's loss, which he mostly blames on his mother, who left him behind. And when they get word that the invasion is over, Luke is insistent that they return home, but Aneesha isn't convinced just yet that it’s safe. Luke then takes the alien object he found and throws it into the woods, where it begins to oddly react. [9]
